ABOUT COWS in INDIA

There are approximately 37 Types of Cow breeds in India. Out of them 5(Five) are known for their miking prowess.

  • • Sahiwal
  • • Gir
  • • Red Sindhi
  • • Tharparkar
  • • Rathi

A few others, such as Kankrej, Ongole and Hariana, belong to dual breeds that have both milch and draught qualities.; ie, they are good plough animals. The rest are pure draught breeds.
